English - What is this all about ?

I am a happy retired South African citizen who is in the privileged position to travel frequently through our beautiful country. I am not a professional journalist, but do submit some of my travel stories to magazines for publication from time to time.

I am planning an exciting travel adventure for October/November 2013 which will be of interest to a lot of travelling South Africans. The idea, in short, is to visit all 72 South African ports of entry and to document the journey as well as the history and other information about the ports. I already have the support of one of South Africa’s leading travel magazines to publish this information in some or other form. The possibility of a formal publication in book form is also not excluded.

This Blog will serve as a real time journal of the journey.

The tour
There are a total of 72 ‘ports of entry’ into South Africa. This includes all border posts, harbors and international airports. The tour will visit each of these 72 ports of entry and document it with pictures, history, best use, infrastructure, attractions in the vicinity, and other interesting facts. The results will be of interest to all tourists in South Africa and in particular to those tourists that often visit neighboring countries.

It will take 6 to 8 weeks to complete the tour.

Format
The official tour will be a party of two people in one vehicle. Other vehicles may join the tour along the way but will not form part of the official tour.
